Description	:	From Story County Watchman February 2, 1906 Obituary. Mr. John Lawman was born in Long Newton, England, in May 1825. He grew up and married there and imigrated to his country in 1857 living first in Wisconsin until 1875 when he came to Story county. He settled on the farm in Richland township, which was his home until about ten years ago when he continued to reside until his death. Mr. Lawman has been in failing health for some time but a strong constitution prolonged his life. For several weeks his condition has been critical and his death expected at nay time.... Read More	From Story County Watchman February 2, 1906 Obituary. Mr. John Lawman was born in Long Newton, England, in May 1825. He grew up and married there and imigrated to his country in 1857 living first in Wisconsin until 1875 when he came to Story county. He settled on the farm in Richland township, which was his home until about ten years ago when he continued to reside until his death. Mr. Lawman has been in failing health for some time but a strong constitution prolonged his life. For several weeks his condition has been critical and his death expected at nay time. He died at his home in this city, Monday afternoon, January 29th 1906, at the advanced age of 80 years, 8 months and seventeen days. He was a man of most estimable qualities, a kind and loving husband and father and an upright citizen. He leaves besides his wife seven children, Mrs. J. E. Brooks, Mrs. Nathan Kelley, Mrs. J. T. Handsaker, his son Thomas, Mrs. Frank A. Boynton, Mrs. John O'Donnell and Miss Isabel Lawman. They all live in or near Nevada except Mr. Kelley who lives at Swea City and the son who lives at Rodman. The funeral was conducted Wednesday forenoon at eleven o'clock from the Lutheran church by Rev. James O. Simon and the interment was in the Nevada cemetery.
