Read More	OBITUARY The Greenville News (SC) - Friday, March 21, 1980, Page 3D LANDRUM, SC - John Lawson Petty II, husband of Mildred McComb Petty and past director of Petty Funeral Home, died Thursday. Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Tolly W. and Annie Sue Reid Petty, he attended Campobello High School and Furman University, graduated from Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science in 1932, operated Petty Funeral Home, and was a member and served as President of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and the South Carolina Cemetery Association, was a member of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association, served as secretary and Treasurer of the South Carolina Funeral Services Board and was President in 1963 and 1964. He served as chairman of the Piedmont Group, was active in the life of the community of Landrum, served as member of District I School Trustee Board, and was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church. He was a charter member and past president of the Lions Club, was a charter member and past president of Landrum Ruritan Club, was a member of Landrum Chamber of Commerce, and was President of Landrum Precinct of the Democratic Party for many years. Surviving are sons, John L. Petty III, James M. and Joseph T. Petty, all of Landrum; a daughter, Susan Harmon of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Ben Gramling of Gramling, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Petty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. -- Petty Funeral Home.
