Description	:	Excerpt from The History of Preble County, Ohio: Gratis Township, pg. 185. "First settlement in the county was made in Gratis Twp. as early as 1802 by John Leslie. He emigrated from Pennsylvania with his family. He had five sons (David, Joseph, John, Stephen, and Reece). Leslie bought the south half of Section 36." [Reece sometimes called Reazin.] Eventually he owned 1250 acres in Preble County and land in Butler County. His daughters were Tabitha (md. William Gregg), Mary (md. Benjamin R. Records say John and his wife were originally buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Butler Co., and later moved to Miltonville.
