Yockey, was born on a farm six miles west of Smithland where he spent his entire life. He was born January 29, 1885, and died February 23, 1960, at the age of 75 years, after an illness this winter which became serious. He attended school in the Lum Hollow vicinity. He was born January 29, 1885, and died February 23, 1960, at the age of 75 years, after an illness this winter which became serious. He attended school in the Lum Hollow vicinity. October 12, 1910, he was united in marriage to Flora White at Onawa. One son, John Claire, was born to this union. John became a member of the Methodist Church in Smithland August 23, 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by the widow, Flora; one son, John Claire and his wife of Ute, Iowa; and three granddaughters, Marlene of Omaha, Virginia and Carolyn of Ute and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. Tritle officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Hurst, Marion White, Kenneth and Frank Kloxin, Lester Pingree, John Cory, Alton and Ralph Yockey, all nephews. Interment was in the Smithland Cemetery under direction of the Willman Funeral Home service of Rodney.
