Description	:	John Lincoln Briggs, son of Wm. J. and Ann Briggs, was born July 31, 1864, at Premption, Illinois. At an early age he joined the Methodist Church at Preemption. At the age of 17 years, with his parents, two brothers, Robert and Grant, and three sisters, Belle, Celia and Ida, the family moved from Preemption to Deep River, locating on a farm 1 1/2 miles south. Read More	John Lincoln Briggs, son of Wm. J. and Ann Briggs, was born July 31, 1864, at Premption, Illinois. At an early age he joined the Methodist Church at Preemption. At the age of 17 years, with his parents, two brothers, Robert and Grant, and three sisters, Belle, Celia and Ida, the family moved from Preemption to Deep River, locating on a farm 1 1/2 miles south. When 26 years of age, John Lincoln Briggs was united in marriage to Urissa Jones of Preemption. They located on a farm 4 1/2 miles south and east of Montezuma, which has been their constant home for the past 53 years. To this union, one child was born who died in infancy. On June 4, 1939, his wife, Urissa Briggs, preceded John in death. John, or better known to his friends and neighbors as Jack Briggs, was a kind and loving neighbor always ready with a helping hand. Through his long illness he has been a patient sufferer displaying the same loving kindness to all that was so prominent in his entire life. He died on December 2 at the Montezuma Hospital at the age of 79 years and 4 months. Preceding him in death besides his wife, were two brothers, Robert and Grant Briggs, and one sister, Belle Allen Schoales. Two sisters, Cecila Malcom of Deep River and Ida Ashing of Des Moines, relatives, friends and neighbors will deeply mourn the passing of a beloved brother.
