Fox of Highland Township, this county, passed away. He died in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Danville, IL, where he had been undergoing treatment for the past 2 months. Fox of Highland Township, this county, passed away. He died in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Danville, IL, where he had been undergoing treatment for the past 2 months. At the time of his death he was past 80 years of age. The deceased was born in Warren County, OH in 1818. He was the son of George and Elizabeth (Link) Fox. The father of our subject was a native of Maryland and a son of Frederick Fox, who was born on the ocean while his parents were emigrating to America. The Fox family first settled in Maryland, where the grandfather kept a tavern at the foot of Fox Mountain for many years. The father of John L. Fox crossed the mountains and settled in Ohio in 1807, making his home in that state, until his death. John L. Fox was reared to manhood in that state and was there married to Miss Susannah Ann Hiligass. In 1857 he and his wife and 5 children moved to this county. His wife and one child are dead. Mr. Fox was a respected and honored citizen, and since the death of his wife had made his home with his children.
