He was born March 29, 1925, near Cincinnati, Iowa, the son of Claude and Carrie (Jones) Ewing. John graduated in 1942 from Cincinnati High School. He then began to teach in several rural schools in Missouri and Iowa. John attended the Kirksville Teacher's College and earned his Bachelors Degree in Education in 1954 and his Masters Degree in 1958. Ewing, 74, Unionville, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 at his winter residence in Lakeland, Fla. He was born March 29, 1925, near Cincinnati, Iowa, the son of Claude and Carrie (Jones) Ewing. John graduated in 1942 from Cincinnati High School. He then began to teach in several rural schools in Missouri and Iowa. John attended the Kirksville Teacher's College and earned his Bachelors Degree in Education in 1954 and his Masters Degree in 1958. He then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned a Specialist Degree in Education in 1963, and in 1966 he earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1966. He taught at the University of Nebraska until 1969. He was united in marriage to Roberta Boone on April 17, 1948 in Marceline. John was a member of the United Methodist Church in Unionville where he served on the Board of Trustees. John published a book to be used by fellow teachers and also created a card game "CO-DE-O". John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Roberta Ewing; daughters June Arnesto and husband; Janet Krambeer and husband. He is also survived by his brothers and sister: Donald Ewing, Larry Ewing, and Ardyth Weldon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Ermal and Claude Ewing.
