Description	:	John Mace Corkran, 95, of Manchester, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Hospice of The Chesapeake at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Born November 3, 1918, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Howard Lee Corkran and Nellie May Stevens Corkran. He was the husband of the late Frances L. Marousek Corkran. Read More	John Mace Corkran, 95, of Manchester, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Hospice of The Chesapeake at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Born November 3, 1918, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Howard Lee Corkran and Nellie May Stevens Corkran. He was the husband of the late Frances L. Marousek Corkran. He grew up in Williamsburg and was a 1936 graduate of Hurlock High School. He served in the Army during World War II as a communications sergeant in the 29th Division, 175th Infantry Company A. He landed at Normandy Beach D-Day +1 and was involved in the Northern France and Rhineland Campaigns. He was awarded a Purple Heart, five Bronze Stars and European Theater Campaign Medal. He retired in 1983, after working 36 years with C&P Telephone Company and was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an active member of CWA Local 2101 and was a member of American Legion Post 48 in Hampstead, life member of DAV Chapter 22, 29th Division Association Post 72 in Baltimore, and life member of VFW Post 467 in Westminster. Surviving are son John L. Corkran and wife Mildred, of Pasadena; grandchildren John and Stephen Corkran; and daughter Linda L. Grahe and husband Paul. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service, 1 p.m. Friday at Zeller Funeral Home, 106 Main St., East New Market, with the Rev. Gregg Knepp officiating. Interment will follow in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
