He married Sarah Bagley in Boston, Mass. on 5 Apr 1681 and they had 12 children. John Mack was born March 6, 1653 at Inverness, Highland County, Scotland to John Mackgahye and Lady Marian McDonald. The Macks were of the landed gentry and yeomanry of Great Britain. John traveled from London, England to Boston Harbor in 1669 at the age of sixteen. His reason for coming was possibly due to religious persecution in Scotland at that time. It is thought that he shortened his name and probably served an indenture or an apprenticeship once arriving in America as an immigrant. John married Sarah Bagley April 5, 1681, either at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts or Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. Both places show up in the records. Their children were: John Jr., Sarah, Elizabeth, Lydia, Josiah, Orlando, Jonathan, Ebenezer, Marah, Rebecca, Johanna and Deborah. The family moved to Concord, Massachusetts by 1684 and moved on to Lyme, New London County, Connecticut by 1696. The will of John Mack is dated January 5, 1721, he died February 24, 1721 at Lyme, aged 67, and is buried in the Old Fox Farm Cemetery at Lyme. The will was proved March 28, 1721 where the inventory of the estate was valued at 305 pounds, 13 shillings and 11 pence. John and Sarah Mack were the 2nd great-grandparents of Joseph Smith Jr. who organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in April 1830. His line is John Mack, father of Ebenezer Mack, father of Solomon Mack, father of Lucy Mack, mother of Joseph Smith Jr.
