Description	:	John Maurice Lueck, 86, Spiritwood, N.D., died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at his home. Mr. Lueck was born on Jan. 19, 1915, on the family farm in Rose Township north of Spiritwood, the son of Elmer E. and Hilda (Johnson) Lueck. Read More	John Maurice Lueck, 86, Spiritwood, N.D., died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at his home. Mr. Lueck was born on Jan. 19, 1915, on the family farm in Rose Township north of Spiritwood, the son of Elmer E. and Hilda (Johnson) Lueck. He was raised on the family farm and attended Rose School #1 for eight years. He graduated from Spiritwood High School in 1935. He also attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton. During the winter of 1937, he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Sidney, Mont. He was baptized on Feb. 15, 1915, and later confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wimbleton, N.D. He was currently a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown. On Jan. 17, 1945, he married Elwanda "Polly" Mathias at her home in Homer Township, south of Jamestown. They farmed and lived in Rose Township, north of Spiritwood, for 56 years. He served on the Community Credit Union Board, Rose Township Board and was on the Spiritwood Cemetery Board at the time of his death. After retirement, he attended painting classes and created oil paintings. He created, carved, and painted a six-piece carnival, including a carousel and double Ferris wheel. He enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, dancing, bowling, traveling, gardening, carving animals and wildlife, and life in the country. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Wanda Jean Walker, Jamestown; a son, John E. "Jack" (Karen), Spiritwood; a brother, Kenneth (Arline), Spiritwood; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Marlene and Darlene; his parents; a sister, Mildred; a brother Gerald; and a granddaughter, Kami Jo Walker. Services; 2 p.m. Tuesday, Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Steve Bernston officiating. Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. Burial: Spiritwood Cemetery, Spiritwood. Memorials: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown Hospital Hospice, or the charity of choice.
