Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg with Father Kenneth Koster as celebrant. Eileen Lindner will be the organist, Don Seim, soloist and Bill Dempsey, bagpiper. NOTE: Visitation will be at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday at 5-8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 scripture service. NOTE: Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown. John Maxamillian Weber was born February 2, 1912 to John Henry and Rosa Augusta (Raml) Weber at the family home near Goodwin, South Dakota. He grew up in rural Goodwin, completing the eighth grade. He married Susan "Loretta" Bays on March 1, 1939 in Pierre, South Dakota. John worked in South Shore at the Steinocker Garage and Goosch Garage before moving east of Goodwin in 1945 to Geford's farm. John and his family then moved to their present farm near Strandburg in 1951, where they farmed for many years. Loretta passed away on August 16, 1999; the couple had celebrated 60 memorable years together. John loved his family and farm life; he took special joy in collecting old tools and making items out of wood, such as toys and folding stools. For John, going to and setting up at flea markets brought him great fun and pleasure and he did this until the age of 97. John is survived by his sons, John O. (Donna) Weber of Watertown, SD and Robert L. (Sharon) Weber of Strandburg, SD; his brothers, Bob (Shirley) Weber of Clear Lake, SD, Merle (Rita) Weber of Watertown, SD, Eldie (Margie) Weber of Tacoma, WA, Roy (Kate) Weber of Strandburg, SD and Joe (Bonita) of Tacoma, WA; 4 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta; son, Mike; grandson, Dale; great grandson, Michael; two sisters, Ann and Bernice; and three brothers, Nick, Albert, and Ambrose (wife, Velma). ************************ Final Harvest He was bound to the land from the day of his birth His roots anchored deep in the fertile earth. Nurtured, sustained, by the soil he grew And his life, like his furrows, ran straight and true. In faith, each spring, he planted the seeds In hope, to reap his family's needs. With patience, he waited for the harvest to come To gather the fruits of his labor home. Ever turning seasons, the years sped past Till the final harvest came at last. Then claimed anew by beloved sod He was gathered home to be with God.
