Read More	John Maynard Zwicker 78, Walden, Lunenburg Co., passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004 in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in East Chester, he was a son of the late Maynard and Fannie (Stevens) Zwicker. In John’s earlier years, he joined the Royal Canadian Army, serving in Aldershot with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Following his service time, John established life in the community of Walden where he raised his family, worked as a logger, farmer, blueberry grower and christmas tree producer and served his community with pride. He was elected as councillor for the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg where he served 18 years on many of the committees and school board. He was a member of the Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association and was a founding and active member of the Walden and District Volunteer Fire Department. John was a member and past warden of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Walden. He was active in the church at all levels including the parish and the diocese, where he was often elected as a synod representative and was always willing to serve on various committees and councils. Most recently John was the recipient of the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award, presented to him in May by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, the former Frances Irene Naas. Daughters, Wendy (Richard) Hiltz; Maxine (Donald) Myler all of Walden. Sons, Ross (Linda); Andrew (Michelle Oickle); Barry (Corrine Collicutt) all of Walden; Marshall (Kathy Penney), Cookville; Martin, Rhodes Corner. Brothers, Ronald, Walden; Elwood (Ina), Fredericton. Sisters, Margaret (Barry) Spicer; Marion Zwicker, all of Berwick; Frances (Cecil) Crossland, Clearland; Marie (John) Harlow, Dartmouth; 10 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m., Thursday in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lower Walden Cemetery, Walden.
