Description	:	Mr. J. M. Sample, after an illness of five years last April, at which time he suffered a stroke of paralysis, and since has had two or three light strokes, rendering him helpless for more than two years, passed away August 10, 1916, at 11 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Della Ramsey. His faithful wife has all these two years of helpfulness, been a constant attendant, showing how devoted she was to her husband. They moved to the home of the daughter so she could give him her entire time, last October. . . . John [Monroe] Sample was born January 23, 1852 at Beavertown, Montgomery county, Ohio. He was converted at Piqua, Ohio, at the age of 22, and joined the Calvary Baptist church, and remained a member until he moved to Kansas, where he and his wife united with the Baptist church at Bethel, at its second organization twenty-nine years ago last January. . . and was ordained as a deacon of the Missioanry Baptist church. They removed their membership to Uniontown and he organized the First Baptist church in the town in the year of 1901. After much consecrated labor they helped to build the edifice dedicated now as the First Baptist church of Uniontown. Mr. Sample was for years Venerable Counselor for the Modern Woodmen, having joined that order at the age of 45 years. Mr. Sample was united in marriage to Miss Adaline DeFran, July 25, 1871, at Piqua, Ohio, by their pastor, Rev. Wm. Douglas. He leave to mourn their loss the wife of 45 years, and four children, William Cary and Thomas E. Sample of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Myrtle Neth, of Piqua, Ohio, and Mrs. Della Ramsey of Uniontown. There was one more son, Robert, who will be remembered as being drowned in the Rio Grande, he having enlisted in the regular army and was stationed at Ft.
