He was predeceased by his first wife, Lelia Manning Cart in 1982; his late wife, Lynn Allrich Cart in 2013; his sister, Elizabeth Cart Morrison; and his brother, Walter Montgomery Cart. John attended city schools in Spartanburg through middle school and graduated valedictorian of his class at the Baylor School for Boys in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, MA with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. John honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines and was part of the V-12 program. John worked over 25 years for Spartan Mills and served on their Board of Directors. He was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16th, 12 Noon at The Episcopal Church of the Advent followed by a reception in the Parish and Community Life Center.
