Fletcher, a pioneer of Douglas county, passed to the great beyond this morning at 8:25, after along illness, caused by infermities*. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 O'clock from the M.E. Church and will be under the direction of the Masons. Burial will take place in the Fraternity Cemetery. John M. Fletcher was born in Carroll County, Ohio, 76 years ago the 17th of September and crossed the plains with his parents in the summer of 1852, settling in Oregon. In 1887 he came to Douglas county and filed on a homestead eleven miles northeast of town, the family coming the following spring, and he continues to live on the ranch until about two months ago. He was married to Nancy Ann McAllister on July 25, 1867. to this union twelve children were born., eleven of whom survive him with the widow. they are Mrs. D.L. Gillespie, Brewster; W.H. and R.A. of Seattle; Mrs. W.C. Peach of Mansfield; Mrs. Charles Bell, Mrs. George Kinzebach, Mrs. Albert McKay, Frank, Fred, Pearl and Charles E. of Waterville. Mr. Fletcher was well known throughout the county to all the old timers and was considered one of our best citizens and leaves a host of friends who will sympathize with the family in their sad bereavement in the loss of a good father and husband.
