Mr. Morrow was a well-known and highly respected man of our community. For many years he was the proprietor of the Morrow Grocery Sore on Broadway, now owned by Mr. Tom Ressel. He leaves to mourn his death his wife [Mary Farmer] and two children, Carl and Orpha, both of this city, who have the sympathy of many friends in their loss. Pleasant, Mary 13, 1920 ANOTHER OBIT: John Morrow was the son of James and Elisabeth Gholson Morrow. He was the oldest child of a family of four boys and four girls. Three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth King of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ella Jennings of Clairmont, Missouri and Mrs. Hattie Hand, of Hannibal, Missouri; and one brother, Franklin Pierce Morrow of Bethany, Missouri, survive him. John Morrow was born in Henry County, Iowa, September 8, 1850 and died in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, March 12, 1920, being at the time of his death sixty-nine years, six months and four days of age. He started life on a farm and his early days taught school in Henry County. Later he engaged in business in Mt. Pleasant, which he continued until about two years ago, and which he was obliged to give up on account of his failing health. He was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church about thirty-five years ago, and has remained a faithful and devoted member until the time of his death. He was married November, 1871 to Mary Sophronia Farmer of Henry County. Three children were born to them, the eldest, a daughter, dying in infancy. His wife and two children Carl and Orpha, of this city, survive him. His life was one of child-like faith in God, and his sufferings being over, he rests at home in peace. The funeral services were held at his late home on Broadway, Sunday, March 14th at 2 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, W. R. Keesey, assisted by Dr. T. J. Myers, a long-time friend of the family. The service was largely attended by the host of friends, and the floral tributes were many and beautiful. The choir, consisting of Mrs. C. W. Quillen, Miss Ivadell Swindler, Mrs. M. S. Cromer and Ross Walker, sang very beautifully, "Lead Kindly Light," "Come Unto Me" and "Abide With Me." The pall bearers were Messrs. Will W. Kitch, E. C. Mathews, John R. Hughes, W. E. Daily, A. I. Ford, and F. Ford. The interment was made in the beautiful Forest Home Cemetery.
