Description	:	Civil War veteran Musician, Co. B, 3rd Massachusetts Infantry John, a 36-year-old Plymouth, MA Moulder, he enlisted at Plymouth on Sep. 19, 1862 and was mustered a week later as a Musician, i.e. a drummer or fifer, in Co. E of the 3rd Massachusetts Infantry. His regiment was deployed to North Carolina, arriving at Beaufort on October 26th and from there moved to New Bern. The regiment was involved in the Goldsboro expedition in December and engaged in two fire fights, one at Kinston and the second at Whitehall, where two from the regiment were killed. In Jan.... In Jan. 1863 they manned Fort Totten, part of the New Bern defenses and remained there until they returned to Boston on June 16th. Three months later, while John was enjoying a return to civilian life, a Yellow Fever epidemic swept through New Bern claiming more than a hundred victims, civilians and Union soldiers alike.
