Burial was in the Keefover cemetery, where graveside rites were conducted by the Masons. Mr. Wise retired June 15, 1939, from his railroad employment and a short time later moved to Blue Rapids. He started to work at the roundhouse in Marysville in December, 1917, as a handyman in the night crew. At the time of his retirement he claimed the record of being one of two men who worked in the old roundhouse and who at that time were working in the newer one. He began working on the day shift in 1922. When he started work for the railroad, Mr. Wise was a plasterer and mason, the work he followed in Marysville for 23 years. He was born on a farm in Washington county, just eight miles northwest of Waterville, on June 14, 1874, and moved to Marysville in March, 1894. He married Miss Annie Clark, Oketo, on February 24, 1904. Surviving, besides Mrs. Wise, are these children: Mrs. Frances Roberts, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Martha Fowler, Sylvis Wise and Chester Wise, Marysville, Mrs. Mary Sadler, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Lillian Larabee, Haddam, and John Wise, Jr., Blue Rapids; five brothers; and three sisters.
