The Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Friday, February 13, 1981; Page 12 John Thietje Services Are On Saturday Services for John Thietje, 80, 218 Miller Ave., a retired farmer, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jack Nitz will officiate, and burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Mr. Thietje died Feb. 11 at Clarkson Memorial Hospital, Omaha. He was born Feb. 3, 1901, at West Point to Nick and Johanna Bisping Thietje, and farmed in the Stanton, Pierce and Hoskins areas until retiring and moving to Norfolk in December 1961. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. On March 30, 1930, he married Mary E. Shevchenko at Dallas, S.D. She died in Sept. 1946. On July 25, 1952, he married Gertrude Detlefsen. She survives as do three sons, John Thietje of Omaha, Chief Warrant Officer Warren Thietje of the Philippines, and Howard of Virginia Beach, Va., one step-son, Donald Detlefsen of Buena Park, Calif.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers and four sisters, Nick of Winner, S.D., Harry and Mrs. Sybouts of Yakima, Wash., William of DeQuincy, La., Rudy of Benton City, Wash., Ernest of Monroe, S.D., Fred of Holyoke, Colo., Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Schweigert of Hot Springs, S.D., Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Schweigert of Buffalo, S.D., and Mrs. Jack (Clara) Bailey of Gordon. Mr. Thietje was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and one step-son. All spelling and punctuation as it appeared in the paper .
