Read More	From an unnamed publication: Obituary- John Nicolas Weber John Nicholas Weber, son of John A. and Elizabeth Weber, was born June 15, 1871 Shermerville, Illinois and passed away Dec. 30, 1948 at his home in Pisgah, Iowa, aged 77 years, 6 months, and 15 days. He attended public school and German School near his birthplace and was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church at an early age. He learned the Wagon Makers trade in Chicago and about 1890 went with his elder brother to Nebraska where he practiced his trade at Elmwood a few years. May 31, 1893 he was united in marriage to Laura B. Mathews at Elmwood, Nebraska and to this union were born five children, Emma Fisher of Orson, Grace Smith of Pisgah, Howard J. of Menlo, and Harold L. of Hooper, Neb. One son, Elmer R. gave his life in the service of his country in France on Oct 22, 1918. Mr. Weber farmed a few years in Neb. after discontinuing his shop. He moved his family to Missouri Valley, Iowa in 1901. In 1909 he moved to a farm 3 miles south of Pisgah and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He moved into Pisgah in 1939 and operated a small repair shop up to the time of his death. Mr. And Mrs. Weber celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on May 31, 1943 at the Frank Fisher home. He was an active member of the Methodist Church for many years, having come into the church Dec. 10, 1909. He was always interested in the welfare of others. He was a constant reader of the Bible, and a kind and considerate husband, father, and neighbor. He developed a keen memory and one of his favorite pastimes was reminiscing with his friends and family incidents and experiences from his earlier days. He had been in failing health a number of years but remained active about his several duties until the last, never complaining, He appreciated very much the services rendered by others. Besides his faithful and loving wife, two daughters, and two sons, he leaves 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a brother and sister, William and Emma Weber of Northbrook, Illinois, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends to mourn his passing. "Let me die working, still tackling plans unfinished, tasks undone! Clean to it's end, swift may my race be run. No laggard steps, no faltering, no shirking; Let me die working." Services were held at the Pisgah Methodist Church, Sunday, Jan_ 2, 1949 at 1:30 conducted by Rev. C.E. McPherson_ The male Quartette composed of Earl Shephard, Glenn King, Dale Messenger and Byron Swain sang, "Does Jesus Care", "Jesus Savior Pilot Me", and "Saved by Grace". Bearers were William Had, Carl Weaver, Duane Weber, Walter Freese, Leslie Hunt, and Elmer Fisher. Internment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery. Contributor: L Winslow (46875728)
