John, 61, of Savannah, Tennessee entered eternal rest on April 27, 2015 in Savannah, Tennessee. He was born July 18, 1953 in Lake Charles to Merritte Chelette and Helen Maxine Weaver Perkins. He was a 1972 graduate from Gorum High School, worked road construction, and was a Baptist by faith. John was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents. Those left behind to cherish his memory are: one son, J.J. Bennett of Alexandria; one daughter, Tamica Jaeger of Harahan; two brothers, Jerry Chelette of Oakdale and Edward Chelette of Colfax; five sisters, Connie Perkins of Elizabeth, Sue Montou of Oberlin, Marlene Lawrence of Provencal; Earline Hebert of Glenmora, and Tamica Chelette of Pitkin; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers to serve will be Alan Fee, Hunter Fee, Steven Sonnier, Michael Jaeger, Quinten Scott, Mike Kennedy, and Jamie Tilley. Visitation will begin today, May 4, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. in the Davis Crossing Baptist Church, then Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 8 a.m. until service time in the church.
