John and his 1st wife (??) had about 7 kids before she died about the time John left for Virginia in the early 1760's. He remarried to Elizabeth Stodgill on his journey thru Orange County, VA (also in the early1760's). John and Elizabeth Stodgill only had one son, another John born about 1763.
