Military honors were conducted by the Monticello Drill team. Mr Oltmann died at his residence Aug 2. John Oltmann was born Dec 7, 1891 in Cass Township, Jones Co, the son of William and Meta Oltmann. He received his early education in the rural schools of Cass Township. He worked as a farm hand before enlisting in the U.S. Army during WWI. John Oltmann and Elsie Ommen were married Dec 17, 1924 at her parents home in Langworthy. They farmed in Wayne Township and later in Castle Grove township. They retired from farming in 1961 and moved to Monticello. John was a member of St Matthew Lutheran church in Monticello. He was baptized in 1892 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed there March 24, 1907. He was a member of the WW I veterans organization. John is survived by his wife and six children, Marvin Oltmann of Monticello, Mrs Audrey Reiter of Cascade, Raymond Oltmann of Central City, Eugene Oltmann of Monticello, Mrs Irma Leonard of Monticello and Mrs Elanor Muller of Center Point, 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
