Read More	Source: The Victor Record 6/15/1977 John Roberts Died June 4 At Marengo John Orland Roberts was born at his parents home at Irving in Tama county on June 4, 1905. He was the son of Frank and Ida Farewell Roberts. John spet his early years here, growing to manhood in the same Tama county area where he later attended elementary school. On April 12, 1926 he was united in marriage to Albie Kozik at Cedar Rapids. To this union were born two sons. Following their marriage they farmed for 11 years west of Irving. In 1937 they moved to Victor where John engaged in the produce business until 1950. He later was employed by Amana Refrigeration until his retirement in 1967. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts were privileged to have observed over 51 years of marriage at the time of Mr.Robert's death. John entered into rest on Saturday, June 4, at the Marengo Memorial hospital, the day which marked his 72nd birthday. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Ben. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Albie; his sons, Jack and Darold both of Victor; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother. George Roberts of Victor; four sisters, Gladys, Mrs. Fred DeDecker of Victor; Mrs. Margaret Richmond of Traer; Vallie, Mrs. Elmer Miller of Traer; and Ruth, Mrs. Lyle Woods of Glendale, Calif. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral home in Victor with Rev. Jack Weida, pastor of the Victor United Methodist church, officiating. One solo, "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Mrs. Jack Roberts and one organ solo, "Going Down the Valley" was played by Mrs. William Alexander. In care of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Gryp and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil (Mike) Irwin. Concluding services and burial were held at the Odd Fellows cemetery in Victor with Mr. Roberts' grandsons, Terry Roberts, Tim Roberts, Mark Roberts, Scott Roberts, Jeff Roberts and Greg Roberts servingas casket bearers.
