From Nevada Journal October 3, 1924 JOHN INGERSON DIED SUDDENLY MESSENGER OF DEATH CALLED WELL KNOWN FARMER THURSDAY AFTERNOON J. P. Ingerson, 67, farmer of southwest of this city died very suddenly, about 3:45 Thursday of heart failure, shortly after coming in from the field where he had been picking corn. Mr. Ingerson, who had lived in this community for a great many years, leaves a wife, two sons and six daughters, four of whom are married. The funeral wil be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Memorial Lutheran church in this city in charge of Dr. C. N. Swihart and interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. He had come in from the cornfield where he had been working and meeting his daughter, Mrs. Carl Holder of this city, who was at home, asked her to drive to town after some repairs for him, while he lay down for a few minutes as he did not feel well. Mrs. Ingerson administered to his wants and he laid down on a couch and within a half hour, when she arose as the daughter returned home, they went into the room where the husband and father lay and found that life had flown. The daughters, five of whom are married, all live in this community with the expception of one. The daughters are Mrs. Paul Nighsonger, Mrs. Clarence Cook, Mrs. Russell Burney all of near this city, Mrs. Clifford Campbell of Chariton and Mrs. Carl Holder of this city, besides the baby girl Leota. The two sons are Clifford and Glen, both at home. Besides theses there are four children dead. One brother, Peter Ingerson lives in Nevada and is well known here. *SUBMITTER'S NOTE: John P. Ingerson died on 2 October 1924. In another issue of the Nevada Journal INGERSON FUNERAL SUNDAY. Was Held From Memorial Lutheran Church. The funeral services for the late John P. Ingerson, 63, who died at his home northwest of the city very unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at 3:30, was held from Memorial Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Dr. C. N. Swihart officiating. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery. The deceased, a native of Denmark, where he was born November 24, 1861, had been a resident of this country since he was 21 years of age, coming directly to Story county, and his home had been in the vicinity of Nevada since. He was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Nelson, October 4, 1880. To this union twelve children were born of which six daughters and two sons, with his wife and brother, Peter Ingerson of Nevada, are left to mourn his untimely death. The family resided for 15 years of the McCall section north of Fernald and later moved in the Clara McCall farm, northwest of Nevada, and last year moved to the adjoining farm, belonging to C. C. Harris. The children who are left with the mother to mourn the death of the husband and father are Mrs. Paul Nighsong, Mrs. Clarence Cook, Mrs. Russell Burney and Mrs. Carl Holder all of, or near Nevada. Mrs. Clifford Campbell of Chariton, Leota at home and two sons, Clifford and Glenn, who were at home. The four children who had passed on were Lars, Mable, Johnnie and Lester. Mr. Ingerson had been at work in the corn field during the day, and about 3 o'clock in the afternoon went to the house and there med his daughter, Mrs. Carl Holder of Nevada who had gone out home. He requested her to prepare to drive to Nevada for him, and Mr. Ingerson was not feeling well stated he rest for a short time while his daughter was making the trip and upon her return a half hour later she found him dead. While lying down Mr. Ingerson passed away. Heart failure was the cause of death.
