A carpenter by trade, Mr. Sammon had been in failing health for many years. He had spent much of his later years hi the Domiciliary in Clinton. Rosary was said by Msgr. M. G. Kelliher for Mr. Sammon at the Starling Funeral home in Bayard Wednesday night. Requiem High Mass will be said at 10 a.m. this morning. Monsignor Kelliher will sing the mass at the St. Patrick's Catholic church in Bayard with interment scheduled for the Willow cemetery. Casket bearers will be James Murrane, Jr., Joseph W. Murrane, Robert Rose, Bud Tasler, Edward Lyons and Victor Vaux. Mr. Sammon was born in Bayard December 26, 1910. He was the son of Tim and Ella Sammon. He entered the United States Army June 16, 1942, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He served in the 1103 Army Air Field Base unit and was honorably discharged at Sioux Falls, S. Dak., October 23, 1945. Members of Bryan Mercer Post No. 44 of the American Legion will perform military honors at graveside. Mr. Sammon was preceeded in death by his parents and five brothers: Winfred, Clarence, Edmund, Ralph (died in infancy) and Ralph L. Surviving are four sisters: Jewell Lockwood and LaVonne (Bonnie) Sammon of Washington, D. C.; Mary Moylan of Des Moines and Mrs. John (Marjorie) Horan of Bayard. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
