Description	:	John Kelly, Little League Baseball Head, Dies John P. Kelly, 73, long prominent in Little League baseball here, died Aug. 9 at St. John's Lutheran Hospital. Kelly, an ardent supporter of the Libby Little League Baseball association, helped build the Little League ball fields and dugouts, served many time as the association president, and was serving on the board of directors at the time of his death. Kelly, an ardent supporter of the Libby Little League Baseball association, helped build the Little League ball fields and dugouts, served many time as the association president, and was serving on the board of directors at the time of his death. In 1977, he was honored for his 22 years of service to the Libby Little League when Kelly Field was named after him. Kelly was born July 3, 1905 in Tama, Iowa. He was raised in Iowa, attended schools in Tama and St. Anthony, Iowa, and later attended the University of Iowa at Ames. Kelly moved to Kimberly, Idaho, in 1926 and worked as a farmer, and on Nov. 23, 1933, he married Nevelyn Starry at Twin Falls, Idaho. The couple moved in 1951 to Libby where he worked for the St. Regis Paper Co. in the sawmill and the plywood plant. Kelly retired in 1970. He was a 33-year member of the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife Nevelyn, Libby ; four sons; one daughter; two brothers, Charles, Glendale, Ariz. ; and Tom, Chicago, Ill. ; three sisters, Margaret Mestle, Omaha, Neb. ; Mary MacPherson, Chicago; and Loretta Leahy, Chestnut Hill Mass.; and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Vial Funeral Home with Pastor David Nelson of the Three Lakes Community Church officiating. Pallbearers were Dick Baeth, Ray Remp, Lee Gehring, John Starke, Tom Scow, and Ron Woller. Honorary bearers were Fritz Vignali and Charley Welch. Burial followed in the City of Libby Cemetery.
