Barger, son of John N. and Catherine Barger, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, on July 9, 1858, and died at Hastings, Neb., May 11, 1924, aged 65 years, 10 months and 6 days. Barger and Catherine Siglough OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 29, 1924 JOHN P. BARGER John P. Barger, son of John N. and Catherine Barger, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, on July 9, 1858, and died at Hastings, Neb., May 11, 1924, aged 65 years, 10 months and 6 days. He was converted when a boy and joined the M. E. church. Later he was sanctified and had led a consistent Christian life up to his death. He was married to Susie R. Umbenhower in 1892, and to this union five children were born, three boys and two girls. The two girls preceded him in death. The three boys, Abraham, Azel and Elza, are left to mourn their loss. He lived for a number of years in the Coal Glen neighborhood, was Sunday School superintendent and a faithful attendant at church. He was highly respected by everyone. Largely attended funeral services were conducted by R. B. Bingaman at the Coal Glen church on Monday, May 19th, at two o'clock and interment was in the Coal Glen cemetery.
