Paul Deal Gloucester - John Paul Deal, 57, Mathews County division superintendent for the Virginia Department of Highways, died unexpectedly early Sunday at his home in James Store. Mr. Deal was chairman of the board of deacons and the building committee and choir director of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Deal of Ark; a grandson; four sisters, Mrs. Marjory McCarty of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Ruby Cox of Evansville, Ind., Mrs. Nellie Hayden of Portsmouth and Miss Miriam Diehl of Naxera; a brother, Sebern Deal of Naxera; two half sisters, Mrs. Florence Sterling and Mrs. Effie Sterling, both of Naxera; and a half brother, S. G. Deal of Naxera. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. P.E. Brewer, pastor, and the Rev. O. G. Burnett of Brookneal. The body will be at Bridges Funeral Home, Gloucester, until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
