Description	:	Funeral Here Sept. 16 for John Wickert, 89 Funeral services for John Wickert, 89, who died Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Plainview hospital after a lingering illness, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel in Creighton with the Rev. Paul Banitt of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne Rumsey, Byron Heyer, Lee Stokes, John Crabtree, Harold Linstadt and Bill Van Brocklin. John Penrose Wickert was born Dec. 24, 1881 near West Point. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Bancroft and grew up in the West Point area. On Jan. 11, 1911 he married Clara Moody. Nine children were born to them. Some years later they moved to the Norfolk area. On Aug. 31, 1945 he married Abbie Stolp. They moved from Norfolk to the Creighton area in 1960. they resided in Plainview Manor the past year. Surviving are his wife, Abbie; eight children, Howard of Las Vegas, Nev., Erwin of Omaha, Richard of Grand Island, Arnold of Gering, Lloyd of Fort Ord, Calif., Evaline Wickert, Grace Wickert and Dorothy Fenske of West Point and three step children, Bessie Van Kirk and Orville Stolp of Creighton and Earl Stolp of Ft. Worth, Tex. Preceding him in death were his first wife, one son, Marvin, parents, brothers and sisters.
