John was born on January 5, 1954, in Jewell, Ohio, to Robert F. and Wilma J. (Hammon) Lymanstall. Read More	John Porter Lymanstall, 63, of Napoleon, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. John was born on January 5, 1954, in Jewell, Ohio, to Robert F. and Wilma J. (Hammon) Lymanstall. He married Rose Marie Rieman on November 17, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bluffton, Ohio, and together they shared more than 38 years of marriage and raised three children. John graduated from Tinora High School in 1972 and then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from The Ohio State University in Columbus in 1978. In 1983, he earned his certificate of anesthesia from Ohio State and spent his career practicing as a nurse anesthetist. He began his nearly 40-year career at The Ohio State University Medical Center and went on to work at hospitals in Northwest Ohio, including nearly 20 years at Henry County Hospital, providing anesthesia services for all hospital patients. John spent the last 12 years of his career at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, where he worked in labor and delivery. He retired in 2014 after a long and respected career. He particularly enjoyed getting to know patients and their families, helping deliver babies, and working with numerous talented medical professionals. In addition to his anesthesia career, John was an active farmer. He enjoyed working on the family farm with his father and brothers and could often be found painting and repairing his barn and clearing brush in the woods. John had a passion for life and never stopped learning, possessing many and varied interests. He enjoyed swimming in the backyard pool, ice skating, playing the accordion, playing the piano, listening to polka music, and watching sports -- particularly local high school sports, the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He could often be seen walking uptown with his sheltie, Wendy, or at “Coffee Club” at the senior center. Above all, he loved meeting and getting to know people. He was a member of St. Augustine Church, the Henry County Democratic Party, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, and previously was a member of the Napoleon Rotary Club and served as a Napoleon Pony League baseball coach. In addition to his wife and best friend, Rose, John is survived by his three loving children, Erik (Jennifer) Lymanstall of Cincinnati, Carrie (Dr. Ryan Harrison) Lymanstall of Columbus, and Heidi Lymanstall of Perrysburg; granddaughter Rory Lymanstall; devoted mother Wilma Lymanstall of Bradenton, Fla.; sisters Beth (Charles) Weber of Defiance and Christine (Dr. Robert) Anderson of Denver, Colo.; brothers R. Mark (Pam) Lymanstall and Ted (Judy) Lymanstall, both of Defiance; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his grandparents. John was a tour de force in this life and will be sorely missed by his friends, family, and the community. We take solace in the grace with which he handled his sudden illness. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m with Rev. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on at Rodenberger Funeral Home, 1010 Westmoreland Ave. Napoleon, OH on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and also on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. John requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Henry County Hospital Foundation, or the Tinora Athletic Boosters.
