Description	:	At a Ripe Old Age John Ramsey died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. E.C. Roach, Tuesday morning at 8:35 o'clock after a brief illness following a long spell of ill health. Although suffering considerably at times he was up and around the house until Saturday evening, when he fell into a comatose state which lasted until Sunday morning. Frank G. Beardsley of the Congregational church. The remains were accompanied by J.W. Ramsey of this place and W.H. Ramsey of Sioux Falls to Harlan, the old family home for interment. Mr. Ramsey was born March 18th, 1827, in Chester county, Penn., near Philadelphia, and when 16 years of age moved to Ohio. He was married at Hayesville, Ohio, February 7, 1850, to Catharine Humphreys, and in 1855, they removed to Cedar county, Iowa, and later to Harlan, where the wife died February 5, 1899. Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey were the parents of six children, J.W. Ramsey and Mrs. E.C. Roach of this city, J.H. and W.H. Ramsey of Sioux Falls, Mrs. J.T. Perdue of Ottumwa, and Mrs. W.T. Shepherd of Harlan, all of whom are living. Mr. Ramsey has often visited Rock Rapids in times past and for the last year has made his home with Mrs. Roach here. Although ill health made it impossible for him to be about much, he made many friends by his quiet kindly manner, and there is universal sympathy in the community for the sorrowing family.
