Description	:	John Raymond Carter, 77, died at his Dakota Street home Saturday. Born March 25, 1882, in Boone County, Nebr., he had lived in this vicinity since 1923, a lumber worker until his retirement. He had been a member of the Christ Science Church and of the Friendship Circle. Surviving is his wife Berteen M. Carter of Eureka; children Mrs. Mildred Lobb of Emmet, Idaho; Mrs. Margie Bravano of Crescent City; Mrs. Myrte Kinney of Samoa; and Claude Carter, Mrs. Daisy Gahatt, Mrs. Ruth Ray, Mrs. Eloise Alora, and Kenneth, all of Eureka; as well as Varvel Carter of Pleasantville,... Funeral service were held at the Pierce Mortuary with reader Herbert Newell officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Charles Rakestraw, Anthony Capo, C. C. Turner, Henry W. Tiegs, Charles Bleything and Harold Daniels. Published in the Eureka Humboldt Standard on March 28, 1960 _______________________________________ John was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Evelyn Smith, in 1950 and his son, Oren Joshua Carter, in 1953.
