Description	:	JOHN R. NIELSEN, 60 years of Torrington, Wyoming John was born August 30, 1952 in Oakland, Nebraska the son of Jack and Betty Lou (Tenney) Nielsen. He grew up on a farm outside of Lyons, Nebraska and attended school in Lyons graduating there in 1970. He worked various jobs in the area before joining the U.S. Marines in 1971. NIELSEN, 60 years of Torrington, Wyoming John was born August 30, 1952 in Oakland, Nebraska the son of Jack and Betty Lou (Tenney) Nielsen. He grew up on a farm outside of Lyons, Nebraska and attended school in Lyons graduating there in 1970. He worked various jobs in the area before joining the U.S. Marines in 1971. After his honorable discharge he came back to the Lyons area where he married Nola Johnson. They were later divorced. He worked as a mechanic for John Deere and then attended Northeast Technical Community College and graduated there in 1983. John worked construction for a short time before starting work for NPPD. He moved to Torrington, Wyoming in 1997 where he worked for the city of Torrington as a electrical lineman. John enjoyed photography, building computers, and a Harley Davidson enthusiast. He was very mechanically and electronically inclined and had all the latest electronic gadgets. He was a member of the Nation Rifle Association and a past member of the American Legion. John is survived by two daughters Rachael Nielsen of Gillette, Wyoming and Jamie Nielsen of Whitney, Nebraska; a sister Jerrianne Schreiner and her husband Milton of Omaha, Nebraska; his father Jack Nielsen of Lyons, Nebraska; two step-daughters Shannon Barron and Kelly Turnbull both of Chadron, Nebraska; and two grandchildren Alayna Rudloff and Jack Rudloff. He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers Michael and Mark. Memorial services will be held at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel in Torrington, Wyoming at 2pm Friday, March 8, 2013.
