Description	:	JOHN RICHARD ROWLANDS John Richards Rowlands, son of John M. and Mary (Jones), Row- lands, was born April 21, 1871, in Wales, and came to America when (John Richard) was one year old. The family homesteaded one mile east of Burrton. On March 1, 1906 he was married to Etta Warrick, who passed away on November 22, 1932. On July 28, 1934 he was mar- ried to Mrs. Kittie Thompson, who passed away on August 13, 1951. John was a member of the Burr- ton Presbyterian church until it disbanded in 1920, then he joined the Burrton Methodist Church, where he still held his member- ship. Five Nieces: Mrs. Lillian LeFever, of Phoenix Ariz.; Mrs. Louise Medlock, of Washington state; Mrs. Eleanor Penner, Mrs. Mary Jane Mears, Mrs. Esther Henry, all of Newton. One Nephew: Mr. Bill Thomas, Newton; one step-son and one step- daughter, Cecil and Irene Thomp- son, of Burrton; and two grand- sons, Jim and Don Thompson and a large number of other friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Rowlands of Hutchinson attended the funeral of John Rowlands on Saturday and visited in the home of Mrs. Gladys Rowlands. Other out of towners attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Rees Thomas and family, Mrs. Ruby Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nicholson all of Newton; Mr. Jess Sanders and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hofer of Hutchinson; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Triple and Mrs. Lottie Jones of Halstead; and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Robinson of Newton "THE BURRTON GRAPHIC" Thursday, July 31, 1958 Vol. 81 No. 5 Note: Obit provided by Sharon Hall
