Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 13th at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place 1:30 pm Saturday at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Bob was born September 8, 1919 in Brighton, Iowa the son of Wilbur Brinton and Isabelle (Kilgore) Day. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1937 and earned his law degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. While at the University, Bob met Cornelia Shrauger and they were united in marriage on July 28, 1940 in Atlantic, Iowa. Bob was an attorney in the Day and Meeker Law Firm for many years. He also had an interest in banking, farming and raising livestock. Bob was formerly an attorney in the office of Price Administration and was an officer in the United States Naval Supply Corps from 1943-1946. He is a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, Iowa. Bob belonged to and was a leader in many organizations including the Foreign Leader Exchange Program, Lake Darling Youth Center, Halcyon House, southeast Iowa Presbytery, member of Rotary and also the Y's Men. Two of the awards he achieved were the University of Iowa Alumni Award and the Paul Harris Fellowship award from Rotary. Along with his late wife Cornie, they enjoyed many cultural and athletic events at the University of Iowa as well as many trips around the world. He is survived by one son Ed Day of North Little Rock, Arkansas; three brothers Bill Day of San Antonio, Texas; Richard Day of San Antonio, Texas; and Burt Day of Grinnell, Iowa; one sister Isabelle Holland of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as two daughters-in-law Dianne and Gloria and several grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2004 and his son Dennis.
