He married his high school sweetheart, Carolee P. Williams, July 9, 1951, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955, with one year in Korea. He was graduated from Kansas State University in 1957 with a degree in Business Administration, moved his family to Johnson County and was employed 30 years with Armco Stell Corporation. He was a member of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, the National Association of Accountants, the Institute of Mangement Accountants, the Korean War Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 846, and American Legion Post 370. He and Carolee accomplished 53 years of marriage. He had endless enthusiasm for Boy Scouts, camping, boating, hunting, fishing and coaching, and he retained his love for his farming heritage in Morris County [KS]. Survivors include his wife; his children: Steven Mitchell, Kansas City, MO; Sheri Divine, Prairie Village [KS]; Kathleen Gillespie and husband James, Overland Park [KS]; Marilyn Nickloy and husband Richard, Olathe [KS]; Carolyn McCall and husband Peter, Overland Park [KS; and Christine Bradley and husband Robert, Vassar [KS]; a sister, Marilyn Sharp and husband Jim, Manhattan [KS]; his mother-in-law, Lois Winter Williams; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
