Description	:	He was born at Redeye Mills in Goochland County. He acquired his education in the public and private schools of Goochland County and continued his studies at the Haley High School in Louisa. At twenty-six years of age, he entered into business with Mr. H. H. Walton. They conducted a general store for three years at Bells Cross Roads. Read More	He was born at Redeye Mills in Goochland County. He acquired his education in the public and private schools of Goochland County and continued his studies at the Haley High School in Louisa. At twenty-six years of age, he entered into business with Mr. H. H. Walton. They conducted a general store for three years at Bells Cross Roads. He sold his interest in the store in the spring of 1905. In September of that year he purchased the business at Bells Cross Roads, the same having been continued by Mr. Walton, and in the fall of 1909 he sold the business but retained the building. Thereafter, he operated a sawmill at Walton's'. Store until 1910 and from that year until 1913 he was in the same business in Spotsylvania county . 1914 he became a resident of Louisa where he ran a wholesale lumber and supply business. In 1929 he opened a lumber plant in Columbia, Virginia. In 1917 he was appointed by Judge John Rutherford, Judge of Louisa Circuit Court, to serve the unexpired term of Capt. W. T. Meade as a member of the Board of Supervisors. He continued to serve on the Board of Supervisors until December 31, 1923. On September 26, 1914 he became a director of the Bank of Louisa and on July 15, 1936 he was elected President of the Bank of Louisa. He held this position until the bank was sold to the National Bank and trust Company of Charlottesville, Virginia. When he moved to Louisa in 1914, he became a member of the Louisa Christian Church and on December 14, 1929 (Louisa Chancery Book 1925-1930 Page 551) he was elected by the congregation a Trustee of the church and he held this position until his death.
