Description	:	John Sheley immigrated to this country from Germany and settled in PA. Eventually ending in Northern Virginia. In 1750 he was a chain surveyor in George Washington's expedition in the smoky mountains. John married Margaret Davis in 1756 in Frederick Co Viginia. He is listed as a patriot of the Revolutionary war and recognized by the DAR. In 1807, at the age of 80, he sold his holdings in Virginia and moved to Silvcreek Twp, Greene Co, Ohio. John bought land in this new area, then only a military district, and with his family strarted anew. John Sheley died...
