Description	:	John Shelly Robinson married Evaline Thomas, Oct. 2, 1851, in Rush Co., Indiana. In 1859, he left St. Joseph, Missouri, and started across the plains for California, with a party of emigrants, bringing his family and household effects in an ox-wagon. The trip took four months. They arrived in Sacramento Co. on Aug. 25, 1859. Between 1859 and 1873, his family lived in a number of counties including Sonoma, Lake, Solano, Santa Cruz and Merced.
