Description	:	7-26-1907, The Otoe Union: John Snyder was born at Centerville, Penn., July 30, 1842, died at his home in Syracuse July 22, 1907, aged 65 years, 11 months, and 22 days. He had been unable to work for the past year but had only been confined to his bed for the past three weeks. Read More	7-26-1907, The Otoe Union: John Snyder was born at Centerville, Penn., July 30, 1842, died at his home in Syracuse July 22, 1907, aged 65 years, 11 months, and 22 days. He had been unable to work for the past year but had only been confined to his bed for the past three weeks. When he was eight years old he left the town of his birth and came to Warsaw, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. At the breaking out of the Civil War he enlisted with Company E 118 Ill., for thre years service and then re-enlisted serving until the close of the war. He was married to Nettie J. Staples in 1871 coming to Syracuse in 1880. Eight children were born to them. A wife, six children, and 10 grandchildren survive him. The deceased was a plasterer by trade and known to all as a hard working man, a kind husband and father. The funeral was held from his late home Wednesday morning conducted by Rev. Tinder of the Baptist church. Deceased was a member of Wadsworth Post No. 21, who conducted the burial ceremonies at Park Hill cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest.
