Description	:	LISBON - John Snyder, Jr., 85, of Sunset Drive passed away at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital after taking ill at home. Mr. Snyder was born March 12, 1923, in Lisbon, the son of the late John and Ruth (Griffith) Snyder, Sr. A 1941 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, John worked 38 years as a clerk at the Lisbon Post office. Read More	LISBON - John Snyder, Jr., 85, of Sunset Drive passed away at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital after taking ill at home. Mr. Snyder was born March 12, 1923, in Lisbon, the son of the late John and Ruth (Griffith) Snyder, Sr. A 1941 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, John worked 38 years as a clerk at the Lisbon Post office. He was a 60-year member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the chancel choir. John was also a life member of the VFW Post 4111; American Legion Post 275; the Methodist Men; and the Blue Devils Booster Club. Mr. Snyder also served as a troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 92 for 20 years, and was active with Little League baseball. John was regularly seen by people in the community, as he helped his sons at Morgan's Drug Store in his retirement. Mr. Snyder was also a World War II veteran, having served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Smith) Snyder, whom he married May 15, 1948; sons, Jeffrey (Carol) Snyder of Lisbon, Steven Snyder of Guilford Lake, and Kevin (Lori) Snyder of Lisbon; and grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Snyder, both of Lisbon, Ian Snyder of Chicago, and Drew Snyder of Lisbon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial will follow in Lisbon Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the Salineville American Legion. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
