Edwards, who died in Oklahoma a day or two ago was taken to Cedar Vale via Winfield yesterday and the funeral and burial took place at Cedar Vale today. W.E. Ankron, of Cedar Vale, son-in-law of the dead man was with the body. John Stephen Edwards was born in Maury county, Tenn., Jan. 24, 1844, and died at his home in Granite, Okla., Feb 14, 1915, aged 71 years and 20 days. He grew to early manhood in Tennessee and served as a volunteer in the Confederate Army, during the entire Civil War, under Gen. Torbet and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage with Miss Partheina Eveline Hankins, Dec. 26, 1861. To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughters, the wife, one son and one daughter, having preceeded him tro the other world. February 7, 1901, he was married to Clemintine Eugene Crowell at Gainsville, Texas, who with her daughter of a former marriage, suvive him. Besides the three sons and three daughters, he also leaves an aged brother, H. L. Edwards, at Gainsville, Texas, and relatives in Tennessee. The deceased, with his family located near Cedar Vale, where he resided until the spring of 1906, when he moved to Granite, Okla. He leaves many friends, both here and at Granite, Okla., his last home, who mourn the passing of a good man. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Feb. 18, 1915, Rev. Eugene Kramer, officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Cedar Vale Cemetery.
