Revolutionary War Patriot.

He was made a 2nd Lt. of the 4th MD Battalion of the flying Camp and served from June to Dec. 1776. He he was taken prisoner at Long Island on August 27, 1776, but made and escape and rejoined his unit.

On December 10, 1776 he became a 1st Lt. of the 7th MD.

During the War of 1812 he was made a Brigadier General of the New Castle County militia.
