Description	:	John T. Baker Sr., 83, of Sioux City died Friday, April 17, 1998, at his son's residence in Hornick, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Shelley Aakre, chaplain of St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Baker was born April 29, 1914, in Ute, Iowa, the son of Almarine J. and Artie M. (Holt) Baker. He had been a resident of Sioux City for the past 50 years. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Sioux City Engineering for several years, until his retirement. He was a member of Woodbury Woody's Camping Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in South Sioux City. He was also a volunteer with the Goodfellows and the Goodwill. Survivors include his son, John T. Jr. and his fiancee Rhonda J. Gill of Hornick; three daughters and their husbands, Marylyn J. and Edward Willim III of Vanceburg, Ky., Loretta J. and Dan R. Mathers of Urbandale, Iowa and Jeanette J. and Jack D. Dyball of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Richard H. and Bernita of Sioux City; a sister, Ruby V. Baker of Volga, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Toby", seven brothers and a sister.
