Description	:	Mr. John Thomas Hanes, 76, of Adamstown, died early Sunday, August 20, 2000, at his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth Clevenger Hanes, his wife of 52 years. Born March 31, 1924, in Point of Rocks, he was a son of the late Charles William and Helen May Roberts Hanes. Mr. Hanes was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and was the recipient of the EAME Ribbon with three bronze stars, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct, Purple Heart and Victory medals. He worked... Read More	Mr. John Thomas Hanes, 76, of Adamstown, died early Sunday, August 20, 2000, at his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth Clevenger Hanes, his wife of 52 years. Born March 31, 1924, in Point of Rocks, he was a son of the late Charles William and Helen May Roberts Hanes. Mr. Hanes was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and was the recipient of the EAME Ribbon with three bronze stars, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct, Purple Heart and Victory medals. He worked for many years as a police officer at the Atomic Energy Commission. Mr. Hanes was affiliated with Forest Grove United Methodist Church, and was a member of FSK American Legion Post 11, Frederick. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Millie M. Gallahan and husband David of Purcellville, Va., Kathy Angleberger and husband Steve of Frederick and Connie M. Hanes of Paeonian Springs, Va.; four grandchildren, John and David Mock, Taylor Angleberger, and Samantha Goedeke; one brother, George R. Hanes of Emmitsburg; two sisters, Mary Wivell and husband Carroll of Emmitsburg, and Helen Bramhall and husband Alfred of Bakerton, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hanes will also be remembered by his daughter Connie's friend, Steve Goedeke of Paeonian Springs. Mr. Hanes was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos D. and Charles W. Hanes. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Susan Hunt and the Rev. Stan Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Point of Rocks. Those desiring may send memorial contributions to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O.
