Description	:	Taken from the Le Mars, Iowa, Daily Sentinel, Monday, August, 22, 1969. John Arens, 76, Oyens, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine Catholic chruch, Oyens, with Rev. Gerald Wingert officiating. Burial will be in the Oyens cemetery under direction of the Fisch funeral home,Remsen. Parish rosary will be said Sunday night at 8 p.m. He was born Feb. 18, 1893, at Alton, the son of the late John P. and Elizabeth Arens. He married Katherine Gengler Jan. 14, 1920, at Oyens where he was a carpenter for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the Remsen VFW, Remsen American Legion and Catholic Foresters. He was a veteran of WWI. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Theresa) Rolfes, Le Mars; four sisters, Mrs. Florentine Mai of Hampton, Mrs. Mildren Schorg, Mrs. Lee Evans and Mrs. Martha Gamerdinger, all in California, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
