Description	:	John Thomas "J.T." Wannamaker ST. MATTHEWS - John Thomas "J.T." Wannamaker, 81, of St. Matthews, died April 7, 2014, in Calhoun Convalescent Center after an extended illness. He was born in 1932 in St. Matthews, and was a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt "T.R." Wannamaker and Wilma Wise Wannamaker. He accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and enjoyed spending time at his pond. Wannamaker, 81, of St. Matthews, died April 7, 2014, in Calhoun Convalescent Center after an extended illness. He was born in 1932 in St. Matthews, and was a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt "T.R." Wannamaker and Wilma Wise Wannamaker. He accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and enjoyed spending time at his pond. J.T. was a lifetime member of the Masons and a former member of the Fort Motte Hunting Club and Elks Club. He also served in the S.C. National Guard for nine years. He retired from SCE&G as the local superintendent of the St. Matthews office after thirty-five years of service. J.T. is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Wilma Jean Wannamaker, daughters Debra Smith and Denise Keezel, and son, John Russell "Rusty" Wannamaker, all of St. Matthews, and sister, Margaret (Frank) Baran of North Palm Beach, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, David Smith of St. Matthews, Brian Keezel of St. Matthews, Aaron Keezel of Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany, Russ Wannamaker and Clare Wannamaker of Cameron. He was predeceased by a brother, Billie Wannamaker, and sister, Ann Robinson Gardener. Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 10th at 11:00 a.m. in West End Cemetery in St. Matthews, officiated by the Rev. Henry Cooper. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Dukes- Harley Funeral Home, Columbia Road, Orangeburg. Pallbearers will be David Robinson, William Robinson, Edward Robinson, John Arant, Rickey Rickenbaker and David Lewis. The family extends special appreciation to the staff of Grove Park Hospice, the Calhoun Convalescent Center and to Jody McAlhaney.
