Prior to that he spent almost his entire life on Roosevelt Street in Westernport. Born 14 February 1932 in Westernport, he was the son of the late John L. Morris and Bertha M. (Riley) Morris. On 16 October 1951 he married C. Joann ‘Bunny’ Beeman of Barton. They were married for nearly 50 years until her death on 4 May 2001. An infant granddaughter, Megan Lutton, also preceded him in 1989. Tom was a 42 year employee of the Westvaco Corporation in Luke until his retirement in 1994. He was also very accomplished at home improvement and did many facets of work for people in the Tri-Towns area. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion at Victory Post 155 in Westernport and a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He attended the former St. Peter and Bruce High Schools in Westernport. He once served as a town commissioner. His sons, J. Thomas Morris Jr. and wife Mary Anne, and James K. Morris and wife Janet of Westernport survive him. His daughter, Lorie A. Laffey and husband Charles of Rawlings also survive. Tom was the proud grandfather to Katie Lauder and husband Jim, Amel Morris, Cassie Marsh and husband Josh, Eric Morris, and Dane, Emily and Tessa Lutton. His great-grandchildren were AJ, Lyla and Tatum Lauder, Carter Goff, and Gracie, Morisah and Brecklin Marsh. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Joan Nofsinger and husband Bob of Keser, Shirley Smith of Westernport, and brother-in-law William Beeman of Barton. He leaves behind nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Egle Nursing Home for their years of vigilant care and understanding. They became Tom’s second family in his life farther up George’s Creek. Their level of kindness and decency there is second to no other facility of its kind. Friends and family will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, on Wednesday 3 December 2914 from 2 to 5 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Peter Catholic Church Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom’s grandsons, his granddaughter’s husband, and his good friend and neighbor Ron Arnold.”
