Description	:	Services for John T. "Runt" Hook, Sr. will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, West Columbia, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Born, raised and a lifelong resident of the Town of Springdale, he was the son of the late Beulah Corine Hook. Mr. Hook died at his home Friday, April 29, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mazama AE-9. He enjoyed a career in the HVAC industry and later worked for Kyzer Trailer Repair prior to his retirement. Preceded in death to the late Carolyn Sightler Hook, married for 50 years, together they made a loving home where everyone was welcomed as family. They always served as an example of compassion in caring for others, and their dedication to family, neighbors and sense of community were evident throughout their lives. Mr. Hook enjoyed operating the children’s spray pool during the summer months at Springdale Park for the past 14 years. He will always be remembered as a gentle and kind man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Surviving are his son, Tommy Hook (Margaret), granddaughter, Grace Hook, grandson, Cory Hook, a large extended family and wonderful friends.
